  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 10 cups water (for bath)
  • ⅔ cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • 12 oz white chocolate chips or candy melts
  • Food coloring (gel/oil-based): orange, purple, green, black
  • Various Halloween sprinkles

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it foam. Add salt and half the flour, then mix in melted butter. Gradually incorporate remaining flour until smooth.
  2. Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1–1.5 hours).
  3. Shape the dough into pretzels or spooky designs after dividing it into pieces.
  4. Boil water with baking soda; dip pretzels briefly before placing them on baking sheets.
  5. Brush with an egg wash and bake at 450°F (230°C) until golden brown (12–18 minutes).
  6. Let cool completely before dipping into melted colored chocolate and decorating with sprinkles.
