  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • Preparation Instructions:

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion and bell peppers. Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and peppers until softened (8-10 minutes).
  3. Push veggies aside and add beef to the skillet. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt; cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and smoked paprika.
  5. Simmer for 20-30 minutes on low heat until flavors meld.
  6. Toast buns if desired. Place provolone cheese on bottom half of each bun.
  7. Spoon the Philly cheesesteak mixture onto the cheese-topped buns.
