  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
  • Cooked rice and steamed broccoli for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Coat chicken pieces in the dry mixture.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken into beaten egg.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden brown for about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Drain excess oil on paper towels.
  5. In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the sauce.
  6. Thicken sauce with a cornstarch slurry and simmer.
  7. Toss fried chicken in the caramelized sesame sauce until coated.
  8. Serve garnished with toasted sesame seeds and green onions over cooked rice or alongside steamed broccoli.
