  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 cup black olive slices
  • Optional toppings: orange cheddar cheese, green and red bell peppers

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand until foamy (5–10 minutes).
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the well of the flour mixture; add olive oil and beaten egg.
  4. Mix until a shaggy dough forms; knead on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl; cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (1–1.5 hours).
  6. Roll out dough to about 1/4-inch thick; cut into strips.
  7. Decorate with toppings; let rise again for another 15–20 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 400°F; bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
