  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • Toppings: black olive slices, orange cheddar cheese, green and red bell peppers

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the center.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit until foamy (5–10 minutes).
  3. Pour yeast mixture into the well along with olive oil and beaten egg; mix until shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm area for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled.
  6. Punch down the dough, roll out to 1/4-inch thickness, and cut into strips.
  7. Decorate strips with toppings like cheese and olives; let rise again for 15–20 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), brush with melted butter, sprinkle with sea salt if desired, then bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
