  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. To make the streusel topping, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly; refrigerate.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Cream together granulated sugar and softened butter until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla.
  5. Alternately mix in dry ingredients and buttermilk until just combined, then fold in cherries.
  6. Pour batter into a prepared pan and top with streusel.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  8. Let cool before adding an optional glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with cherry juice or milk.
