  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • Oreo cookies (for frosting and decoration)
  • Edible candy eyes
  • Black licorice laces

  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line muffin pans with cupcake liners.
  3. In one bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Combine both mixtures and stir in hot water until smooth.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-22 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. Cool on wire racks.
  6. For the frosting, beat softened butter until fluffy; gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in cream and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Fold crushed Oreo cookies into the frosting and generously frost cooled cupcakes.
  8. Decorate with mini Oreos or chocolate candies as spider bodies and attach candy eyes.
