  • Light brown sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt

  1. Tear the bread into 1-inch cubes and let them dry out for a couple of hours.
  2. Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  3. Pour the custard over the bread cubes and gently mix; cover and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  4. Prepare the cinnamon-sugar topping by mixing sugar with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  5. Melt butter in a saucepan; add brown sugar and cream until smooth and slightly thickened.
