  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 8 hamburger buns, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink; drain excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion and green pepper to the skillet; sauté until softened (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Mix in tomato sauce, condensed soup, oregano, basil, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt; simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine cut hamburger buns with melted butter; toss to coat.
  6. Layer half of the meat mixture in the baking dish followed by half of each cheese type and half of bun crumbs; repeat layers.
  7. Pour milk over the top before baking for added moisture.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown; let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
