  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar for glaze

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time along with vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Toss diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Layer half the batter in the pan followed by half the apple mixture, then top with remaining batter and apples.
  7. Bake for 60 to 75 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for about 20 minutes; then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze; drizzle over cooled bread.
