  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup turkey pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Dried oregano for garnish (optional)
  • Olive oil spray for air fryer

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the mixture, then gradually mix in flour until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into six equal pieces; roll each into a circle about six inches wide.
  6. Spoon pizza sauce onto each circle, add mozzarella and toppings, fold over, and seal edges.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg and preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil and cook calzones for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
